Cat Close - Up Portrait

This was our dear cat, Troubele. She was infected with the highly contagious Feline Leukemia virus when she was a kitten, presumably got it from her mother, and only lived a few short years.

This drawing started as an experiment to see if I could get a likeness or not. It turned out better than I hoped for, and of course now say "should have used better papeeeer". It is even slighty warped on the bottom right hand side. Ah well, live and learn. Of course I could always draw it again on good paper, but for some reason I haven't figured out yet, do not like to draw an image twice. Maybe the warp could be ironed out....

This is such a beautiful gentle portrait of a much loved friend, so hard when we lose them.

Hi Vic, thanks for the nice comment! Yes, you are so right. Droubele died 16 years ago and I still think of her fondly.

What a fantastic piece Christine. It really is stunning. I especially love the detail in the fur on her nose. I also love how you chose to crop it.
I think the warp might iron out. I would suggest having the iron at a low setting, no steam, and putting another sheet of paper between the iron and the paper with the warp.
Warped paper or not, this is a beautiful drawing!

Thanks Colette! ;-)

Thanks Teresa! I will do as you suggest and try to fix the paper. If it doesn't work, it's not such a biggie because it's not all that obvious and perhaps once I put a mat on it I can cover it completely. ;-)

Christine, the fur and whiskers are done with wonderful sensitivity, and the crop you have chosen is perfect for the subject. I have to say though, that it's the expressive quality of this portrait that really grabs me. Beautiful!
