Woman's Head & Shoulder Portrait - Work In Progress

Update 4

I should be having one more update on this before it's finished. Need to work on the skin a bit more, add lashes and finish the earrings.
The shawl was fun to do. At first I didn't know how to go about drawing such a transparet and dark fabric. I also didn't want a lot of shine from the softer graphite pencils. Charcoal and Carbon pencils in various grades and a tiny bristle brush did the trick. The slight textured paper worked out fine for this look. I have learned that Carbon can be worked on top of Charcoal, but not the other way around.

This is beautiful and detailed, but still soft. Very nice.
