Child Head & Shoulder Portrait Study

Well, here she is...little Pei Pei. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. I am not 100% correct on all features, but then.... it is a drawing and I am still learning ;-) Tell me what you think, and if there is anything that stands out which could be improved, please give me a shout. Thanks for looking and commenting!! On to the next piece.

Fantastic detail Christine. Can't comment on the likeness without seeing the reference but I really love the intricacy of the knitwear.

Just brilliant!!

Beautiful! I admire someone being able to draw a human face, that is the one thing I always had the most troubles with. She is just adorable and I almost expect to hear her laughter.

Oh, Christine! Why were you so concerned about the hair? You did a fantastic job on this. I know how difficult it is to work in graphite and get all those lovely tonal changes and you've done it so beautifully.

what a gorgeous little girl!

Thank you everyone for your wonderful and uplifting comments! As many Artists possibly know, one feels on 'pins and needles' when the art is revealed to the public. I truly appreciate the positive feedback!! ;-)

Tim and Carina, I am so happy that you like the portrait. Makes my day!!
Especially Carina's reaction. Priceless! :-)

Thank you so much Christine. Your encouragement, both now and in previous posts has really meant the world to me. I know that you've really cam along side of me when I had some doubts in a previous post.

There have been a couple of things that have happened recently that have sealed my decision apart from the fact of other priorities in my life.

I'll probably hang on to the site for a while and not remove it completly but I think that trying to maintain something that takes a lot of effort and has very little payoff, isn't really worth the other *headaches* that cam come up.

Thank you for your blessings toward my family. PLEASE com visit us on facebook because I'll probably start sharing my art, thoughts on the Bible, etc in that area.

Blessings to you and I hope that you are able to grow and succeed as an artist!!

Thanks, Joe, for your well wishes!
I can completely understand your decision. I quit Facebook for the same or similar reasons. It just seemed to be a huge time waster. Maybe in the future I'll set up a page again, but for right now will stay away. Peek in from time to time and say hi. Bless you, friend!!

Wow the detail in little Pei Pei's sweater is amazing! The texture just jumps out!How much time did you spend on it?

Christine said...

Hi Arti, I didn't time myself for this drawing, but most portraits take me at least 60 hours or more. This one took me probably a little more time, because of the knit sweater. Thank you very much for stopping by and your nice comment!
